Head teachers in the North East region are voicing their worries about the government's decision to scrap the PE and Sport Premium. A survey conducted by Schools North East revealed that a vast majority (four out of five) of school leaders are "very concerned" about the potential impact of this change. Chris Zarraga, director of Schools North East, emphasizes that this decision risks taking away opportunities from children who need them the most, particularly those from disadvantaged communities where school is often the primary source of sports and physical activity.
The Proposed Replacement: School Sport Partnerships Network
The government plans to replace the PE and Sport Premium with a new scheme called the School Sport Partnerships Network.
